"Mommy, I want to see Matt"

As most of you know, my brother Matt is currently stationed in Germany. Well, that doesn't stop little miss Ali from "seeing" Uncle Matt & Aunt Amy. Ali loves to Skype with them, I'm still not sure who really enjoys it more!

But, after one Sunday afternoon Skyping with them all Ali talked about was Matt & Amy. Monday morning came and I went in and got her up to go to the babysitters house and she said "Mommy, I want to see Matt again", I explained to her that we were getting ready to leave but that I would get her a picture of him that she could see. So, she walked around that house with his picture just chattering away. Then, she decided that she needed to show him her dance steps that she had learned during dance class, so she sets his picture down and dances for him.

Well, now it is time for us to leave. So, I tell her that she will see Matt when she gets home, that we need to leave now. But, Ali decides that she wants to take Matt with her. So, she holds on to his picture as we head out to the car. As I put her in her car seat, she puts his picture down. The entire way to the babysitters house that day Ali kept saying, "Mommy, Matt is holding Ali". "Ali is sitting on Matt's lap." When she got to the sitters house, she picked the picture up and said "bye bye Matt, Ali loves Matt."

So, while my brother may be thousands of miles away and has yet to see Ali in person, she has found a way for Matt to hold her, and it was priceless!!!

Who says a dog can't color?

A couple of days ago was Valentine's Day, no biggie at our house. We ordered some pitzie (pizza) as Ali calls it and stayed home. It was better than trying to brave any restaurant with Ali, that would be certain to end in disaster for everyone around us. So, I asked Ali before Steve got home if she wanted to make Daddy a Valentine's day card, she of course did, and it of course had to be green. (Didn't you know that green is the color of love!) So, I get all of our stuff around for her to make daddy a card, and I run into the other room to get the last of the supplies. When I return, I find little miss Ali stand over Brutus, coloring him, just like he was a coloring book. Good old Brutus just laid there like he didn't have a care in the world. He probably didn't, I mean all things considered, she could have been doing something far worse to that poor dog than just coloring him. Lord knows that he has put up with ALOT from that crazy little girl!

So, I have come to the conclusion that even dogs like to color, or should I say be colored! :) Until next time friends!

Background

Welcome to my new blog! I have decided that I will give this blogging thing a try. A little background on myself, I currently work for a financial advisors office. My husband is a project engineer. We have a beautiful 2 year old daughter that has led me to this blog. She was born after a difficult pregnancy. She was an answer to our prayers and she continues to amaze daily with all that she can do.
She was born on 2/8/2010, via c-section. We thought that everything was fine for the first few days, then 5 days after she was born, she started crying all day, every day and nothing seemed to help soothe her. After months of appointments and tests, on 6/30/10 we were told that Ali has agensis of the corpus collasum (the two hemispheres of her brain aren't connected like they should be). We were told that there was a possiblilty that she would never walk or never talk depending on how much of the corpus collasum was missing and what portion of her brain was affected. Ali started physical & occupational therapies in August of 2010. With the help of her therapist in April of 2011 Ali started walking!! She is also talking up a storm! She has also been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, sensory processing disorder, & obsessive complusive disorder. She will more than likely be diagnosed with autism at some point. She has a cyst in her brain and fluid in several spots, she has a small hole in her heart, she has numerous gi & urinary issues & sleep problems.
So, I have decided that I will start a blog so people can follow along with our journey. Hang on, it might get bumpy!! :)
